Life Flight is available to transport critically ill or injured adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We provide rapid access to health care for these patients when time, specialized skills, or specialized resources are crucial to the patient's outcome or survival.
Our mission is to support Duke University Health Systems in the following manner:
- To deliver to the acutely ill or injured, neonatal, pediatric, or adult specialized expertise and skills representative of Duke Hospital's distinct tertiary services while facilitating transport for admission to the Duke University Health System.
- To provide educational programs oriented to emergent and critical care patient issues for pre-hospital personnel as well as healthcare providers in the referring community.
- To support research efforts directed at improving patient outcomes and delivering high quality innovative responses to society's changing health care needs.
