Program Overview
Duke Life Flight is the Critical Care Transport Program for the Duke University Health System. Our program provides critical care and emergency air / ground transport to the entire population of North Carolina, as well as portions of South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee.
Life Flight is comprised of 2 helicopters and 4 critical care ambulances stationed throughout North Carolina to provide 24 hour transport of acutely ill neonatal, pediatric and adult patients.
Life Flight I located at Duke Hospital and is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
Life Flight III is located at Johnston County airport in Smithfield, NC and staffed from 10 AM to 10 PM, 7 days a week.
Duke 1 ground critical care ambulance is based at Duke hospital and is staffed from 7AM to 7PM, Monday through Friday
Duke 3 is located at the Burlington airport and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
Duke 4 located at Johnston County airport in Smithfield NC, it is available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
