Landing Zone Classes

Duke Life Flight provides landing zone classes to Fire and EMS agencies with the goal of maximizing safety in scene operations. For any helicopter safety class, we will send an available aircraft with the full crew of the pilot and two highly trained critical care providers. During the Landing Zone presentation we are out of service and dedicated to you. The classes are provided free of charge for the requesting agencies and involves both a classroom presentation and a hands-on component to reinforce key points.

We attempt to honor every request for Landing Zone classes, but unfortunately, due to high volume are sometimes unable to do so. If you would like to request a landing zone class we require a minimum of 7 days’ notice, and the following information:

  • Name of Organization
  • Date and Time Requested
  • Radio Frequency and Landing Zone Command
  • Location of Landing Zone using GPS coordinates
  • Short description of Landing Zone
  • Name and Phone Number of requestor or contact person

If you would like to request a class, please fill out our Landing Zone Request Form (see form below). For any additional questions, please contact the Life Flight office at (800) 362-5433 or via email at dukelifeflight@dm.duke.edu.
